About the Duong Dong Area

Duong Dong is the main town and administrative center of Phu Quoc Island. It is widely considered the best area to stay for first-time visitors thanks to its unmatched infrastructure: restaurants, cafes, shops, ATMs, pharmacies, and markets are all within walking distance.

The famous Long Beach -- Phu Quoc's longest stretch of sand, running over 20 km along the western coast -- is just a 5-minute motorbike ride away. The Duong Dong Night Market, renowned for its fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and local souvenirs, is a pleasant 10-minute stroll from our door.

Despite being the island's hub, our specific neighborhood is quiet and residential -- you get the best of both worlds. Safe streets, friendly neighbors, and everything you need close at hand. It is an excellent base for families, couples, and remote workers alike.

Getting Here from the Airport

Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) is only 15 minutes away by car. We offer a free airport pickup for guests booking 3 or more nights. Just send us your flight number on WhatsApp and we will meet you at arrivals with a name sign.

If you prefer to arrange your own transport, a taxi from the airport costs approximately 100,000-150,000 VND ($4-6 USD). We recommend using the Grab app (Southeast Asia's equivalent of Uber) for the best rates.

Getting Around the Island

The most popular way to explore Phu Quoc is by motorbike. We can arrange rentals for just $5-7 per day, helmet included. For those who prefer not to drive, the Grab app works well for car rides, and we can help arrange day-trip drivers for island tours. Taxis are also available but tend to be more expensive than Grab. For longer excursions to the south of the island (VinWonders, cable car, Bai Sao), hiring a private car with driver for half a day costs around $25-30 and allows you to stop wherever you like along the way.

Restaurants and Cafes Near Us

One of the major advantages of staying in Duong Dong is the sheer variety of dining options within a short distance. Within a 10-minute walk or 3-minute ride from Sabrina Homestay, you will find dozens of restaurants serving everything from traditional Vietnamese pho and banh mi to Korean BBQ, Indian curry, Italian pizza, and Western-style breakfasts. The Duong Dong Night Market is the culinary highlight of the area -- an open-air food market where vendors grill fresh seafood right in front of you. A generous plate of grilled prawns, squid, or fish with rice typically costs 80,000-150,000 VND ($3-6). During the day, local street food stalls serve com tam (broken rice), bun rieu (crab soup), and banh cuon (steamed rice rolls) for 30,000-50,000 VND ($1.50-2).

For coffee lovers, several excellent Vietnamese coffee shops are within walking distance. Vietnamese iced coffee (ca phe sua da) is a must-try -- rich, strong, and sweet over ice. A cup costs 20,000-35,000 VND ($0.80-1.50). Several modern cafes with air conditioning and reliable WiFi also serve as informal coworking spots for remote workers during quieter hours.

Shopping and Everyday Services

Practical daily needs are easy to handle from our location. A well-stocked supermarket (Bach Hoa Xanh or similar) is just 300 meters away, selling groceries, household items, snacks, and basic toiletries at local prices. An ATM accepting international Visa and Mastercard is on the same block. The nearest pharmacy is a 5-minute walk, and a small medical clinic is within 10 minutes. A SIM card shop where you can buy a local Vietnamese number with data for $5-10 is on the main road, a 3-minute walk from our door. For motorbike repairs or tire changes, there is a mechanic shop within 500 meters -- a useful resource since flat tires on Phu Quoc's smaller roads are not uncommon.

Beaches Within Easy Reach

Long Beach (Bai Truong) is the closest beach to Sabrina Homestay -- just 5 minutes by motorbike or about 15 minutes on foot. It is Phu Quoc's longest and most popular beach, stretching over 20 kilometers along the western coast. The sand is golden and fine, the water is warm year-round, and the sunsets here are legendary. Beach bars and restaurants line certain sections, but there are also plenty of quiet stretches where you can lay down a towel with no one around. Swimming is safe and the water is generally calm, especially during the dry season from November to April.

Ong Lang Beach is 15 minutes north by motorbike and offers a quieter, more secluded alternative to Long Beach. The coastline here is rockier with small sandy coves, and the water tends to be clearer. Fewer resorts and fewer tourists make this beach a favorite among repeat visitors who prefer a more natural setting. Several beachfront restaurants serve fresh seafood with a stunning ocean view.

Bai Sao (Star Beach) is about 25 minutes south by car and is widely considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. The sand is powdery white, the water is turquoise and shallow for a long way out, and coconut palms line the shore. It gets busier during peak season (December-February), but visiting early in the morning or during the shoulder months of March-April or November means you can have large sections almost to yourself. We can help arrange transport or include it as part of an island day trip.

Safety in Our Neighborhood

Phu Quoc is one of the safest islands in Southeast Asia for tourists. Violent crime is extremely rare, and the local community is welcoming toward visitors. Our specific neighborhood in Duong Dong is residential, well-lit at night, and frequented by families. Standard precautions apply: keep an eye on your belongings at the beach, lock your motorbike, and do not leave valuables visible. Our property has 24-hour CCTV surveillance and an in-room safe in every room. If you ever feel uncertain about anything, our host is available by WhatsApp around the clock.

Things to Do Near Sabrina Homestay

Beyond the beaches, Phu Quoc offers a surprising variety of activities that are all easily accessible from our central Duong Dong location. The island has a national park covering over half its land area, with jungle hiking trails and wildlife. Snorkeling and diving trips to the An Thoi archipelago (southern islands) reveal coral reefs and diverse marine life -- half-day trips start from $15 per person. Fishing excursions leave from the Duong Dong harbor, just 10 minutes from our homestay. The Hon Thom cable car, one of the longest over-sea cable cars in the world at 7.9 kilometers, offers breathtaking views and connects to the Aquatopia water park. VinWonders theme park is a full-day family attraction. For something more low-key, you can visit local pepper farms, fish sauce factories (Phu Quoc is famous for its fish sauce), and pearl farms. We help all our guests plan activities and can book most excursions at local prices, avoiding tourist markups.

Our Location by Season

The advantages of our Duong Dong location hold year-round, but each season brings a slightly different character to the neighborhood. During the dry season from November to April, the area buzzes with energy -- the night market is packed, beach bars are lively, and the streets are full of travelers from around the world. This is peak time for beach activities, water sports, and outdoor dining. During the rainy season from May to October, the pace slows down considerably. Many tourists leave, prices drop across the board, and the town takes on a quieter, more authentic Vietnamese atmosphere. Rain typically falls in short afternoon bursts, and mornings remain sunny and pleasant. Our indoor amenities -- the kitchen, pool (which stays warm year-round), and air-conditioned rooms with fast WiFi -- make rainy-season stays perfectly comfortable. In fact, many of our repeat guests deliberately choose the rainy season for the lower prices, fewer crowds, and the lush green beauty of the island after rainfall. Regardless of when you visit, our central location means you are never more than a few minutes from food, services, and entertainment.
