About Sabrina Homestay

How we built a welcoming home for travelers on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc

Our Story

Sabrina and her family moved to Phu Quoc several years ago, captivated by this tropical island's beauty and laid-back lifestyle. Having experienced the challenges of finding good, affordable accommodation as newcomers themselves, they decided to create a place where every guest would feel genuinely at home.

What started as a few spare rooms has grown into a proper homestay that welcomes travelers from around the world. But the heart of it remains the same -- personal attention, honest prices, and the kind of local knowledge you simply cannot get from a hotel chain or online listing.

The name Sabrina carries personal meaning for the family, and the homestay reflects the warmth and care that goes into everything they do. From hand-picking the mattresses to testing every WiFi access point in every room, each detail has been considered from a guest's perspective. The family lives on the property, which means there is always someone available to help, whether you need a restaurant recommendation at dinner time or assistance with a flat tire on your rented motorbike at noon. This is not a business managed from a distance -- it is a home that happens to welcome guests, and that difference is something visitors notice from the moment they walk through the gate.

Our Journey: From Spare Rooms to a Proper Homestay

The journey of Sabrina Homestay Phu Quoc began modestly. The property originally had two spare bedrooms that were offered to visiting friends and friends-of-friends. Word spread quickly, and before long, travelers from around the world were asking to book. That organic demand made it clear there was a need for affordable, personal accommodation in Duong Dong that went beyond what hotels and large guesthouses could offer.

Over the following years, the family invested in expanding and improving the property step by step. A swimming pool was added, the garden was landscaped with tropical plants and hammock areas, a fully equipped shared kitchen was built, and each room was fitted with individual air conditioning, hot water, and high-speed fiber-optic WiFi. The Long-Term Rental apartment was designed specifically after listening to feedback from digital nomads who wanted a complete living and working space for extended stays. Today, Sabrina Homestay has six rooms accommodating solo travelers, couples, families, and remote workers, with each room type tailored to a different kind of guest.

What Makes Us Different

Our Values

Sustainability

Phu Quoc's natural environment is what makes it special, and we are committed to protecting it. We use energy-efficient air conditioning units, LED lighting throughout the property, and encourage guests to reuse towels to reduce water and detergent consumption. Our garden is maintained without chemical pesticides, and we provide sorted recycling bins in the kitchen area. We also avoid single-use plastics wherever possible -- guests receive refillable water bottles rather than disposable ones.

Community

We believe in supporting the local community. Our cleaning staff, maintenance help, and drivers are all local residents. When we recommend restaurants, tour operators, or shops, we prioritize locally-owned businesses over international chains. We source fresh produce from nearby markets, and our motorbike rental partners are neighborhood families who depend on tourism for their livelihood. By staying with us, your money goes directly into the local economy rather than to a corporate hotel group.

Transparency

We publish our prices openly on our website with no hidden charges. The rate you see is the rate you pay. We do not use dynamic pricing algorithms or surprise fees at checkout. If something is not included, we tell you upfront. If a room has a limitation, we mention it before you book. We would rather lose a booking by being honest than gain one through misleading information. This approach has earned us a 4.6 out of 5 rating from over 500 guests, and it is something we take great pride in.

Who Stays With Us

Our guests come from all walks of life: couples on a tropical getaway, families with children looking for a safe and affordable base, solo travelers exploring Southeast Asia, digital nomads working remotely for weeks or months, and retirees enjoying an extended winter escape. What they all share is an appreciation for comfort, authenticity, and value.

Why Travelers Choose Sabrina Homestay Phu Quoc

In a market filled with options, from luxury resorts to budget dormitories, our guests consistently tell us they choose Sabrina Homestay for a few specific reasons. The combination of a clean, well-maintained private room with genuine personal service is surprisingly rare on Phu Quoc. Many budget places cut corners on cleanliness or WiFi reliability. Many mid-range hotels lack the personal touch and local knowledge that a family-run homestay provides. We occupy a sweet spot: affordable pricing with the quality and attention you would expect from a much more expensive property.

Our location in central Duong Dong at 16 Nguyen Du Street means guests can walk to restaurants, shops, and the famous night market without needing transport. Long Beach is a five-minute motorbike ride away. The airport is 15 minutes by car. Everything is accessible, yet our street is quiet and residential, giving you the peaceful retreat you need after a day of exploring.

Remote workers especially appreciate our 100 Mbps fiber WiFi, which we monitor daily and maintain with backup equipment. Several of our long-term guests have told us it is the most reliable internet they have found anywhere in Southeast Asia at this price point. Combined with a dedicated work desk, full kitchen, and washing machine in the Long-Term Rental at just $350 per month, it is easy to see why digital nomads keep coming back.

Our Promise

We promise clean rooms, working WiFi, a well-maintained pool, and a host who genuinely cares about your experience. We will not upsell you on things you do not need, and we will always give you honest advice -- even if it means recommending a different place for something we cannot provide.

Community Involvement

Beyond running the homestay, our family participates in local community efforts. We support beach clean-up initiatives organized in Duong Dong, contribute to a neighborhood fund that helps maintain shared roads and drainage, and have helped several local families improve their English language skills to better serve the growing tourism industry. When guests ask how they can give back during their stay, we connect them with local volunteer opportunities and community projects that welcome short-term help.

What Guests Say About the Sabrina Experience

The most rewarding part of running Sabrina Homestay is the feedback we receive from guests. Over 500 travelers from more than 30 countries have stayed with us, and their reviews consistently highlight the same things: the personal attention, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the fast WiFi, the convenience of the kitchen, and above all, the feeling of being welcomed into a real home rather than just checking into a property. We maintain a 4.6 out of 5 average rating across review platforms, with a 9.2 on Booking.com and 4.8 on Google. Many of our guests become repeat visitors, returning season after season and often bringing friends or family members on subsequent trips. Several digital nomads have made Sabrina Homestay their annual winter base, spending two to three months with us each year. These returning guests have become friends, and their continued trust is the strongest endorsement of what we do. You can read their detailed reviews on our reviews page.
